Change the Module system to one folder
I would prefer to have all my files of one module in one folder instead of copying them to the view/core/tpl etc folders. Updating, installing or editing modules would be more easier to handle.
There should be the same folder structure for every module inside the "modules" folder.
Example: A new module for extending the frontend (eg a new view) lies in "modules/modulename/views/viewname.php" and "modules/modulename/out/basic/tpl/tplname.tpl".
Working with a folder structure like this would make it possible to drop some folders for update and leave the module data were it belongs.
I hope you understand what I mean.
completed in versions 4.6 and 4.7

You can achive this behavior very simple by using symbolic links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbolic_link
Hi, what you mean I now under the name 'cascading filesystem'.
I started with a gpl-module for evaluate this behavior.
www.datame.com (only german).
"tpl" has already own "module" system (overriding by custom themes...). tehere is risk of collision.
